my way of teaching

I love to teach students of varying levels and abilities. While stressing the importance of excellent alignment, I encourage people to look within to find their own truth in any given posture, exercise, or meditation. I like to create an atmosphere of camaraderie and support among all my students, and nurture a relaxed and warm environment. While keeping the safety of each student in mind, I believe in gently encouraging each person along their own path of self-discovery.

I use several methods and areas of training to inform my teaching:
  • Yoga: an eclectic mix
  • STOTT Pilates
  • Somatic Exercise
  • Fascial Fitness
  • Therapy & Rehabiliation
  • Scoliosis Therapy

my tatoo & my teaching

Over time, birds have found a place in my heart for the freedom they symbolize. Being present to birds grounds me in the here and now. Taking a long easy breath. Exhaling. And, I love things that make me exhale. Sounds like yoga, right?

A few years ago, I got a beautiful raven tattoo on my arm. One amazing day sitting on a remote trail in the Olympic mountains, I watched a dozen ravens playing. I mean, really playing! Taking turns flying in pairs, doing barrel rolls, flying upside down. The works.

I decided to get a tattoo as a tribute to family members who have passed. The raven is my Watcher. The Sentinel. I like having its quiet presence right where I can see it.

Seeing the ravens that day was magic. I like to take my love of the outdoors, its calmness and equanimity, into the way I teach. As we become more centered and at peace with our own bodies, we are more able to have these exhale moments.
