Saturday Active Yoga
May 11, June 8, July 13, August 10, 2024 10:00 - 12:00 pm - In Studio $50 per session Location: Val’s Fitness Club 5201 SW Westgate Drive Building B, Suite #200 Portland, OR 97221 One building down from Pacific NW Pilates Join Sue once a month on Saturdays for an intermediate level in-person workshop. These sessions will have a good balance of strength and flexibility, along with the more subtle practices of self-awareness, breath and meditation, and a few restorative poses at the end. It does make a difference to have eyes on you in three dimensions, in addition to the pleasure of practicing with others. I cap the attendance to 10 people, so everyone gets personal attention.
Please bring your own yoga props: mat, strap, block, blanket. I will continue to video the first 75 minutes for those who wish to practice at home online, using their regular class package. Renew Yourself with Somatics
Sunday, May 19, 2024 12:00 - 2:00 pm $50 - LIVE in the Studio Workshop I'm so excited to announce the first LIVE somatics workshop I've done since the pandemic. While doing a somatics practice on your own or via Zoom is a great option, there is something extra special about being in a room together with others doing the practice. It always helps to have eyes on you during your practice to help you understand where your Sensory Motor Amnesia (the body and brain forget how to do a simple movement) lies.
This workshop will focus on finding fluidity and ease through the entire body. We always begin with balancing the front and back body from the pelvis to the neck. It's surprising how much better you feel when the torso lets go of held patterns and starts to move more easily. This will be a whole body practice, which will leave you refreshed, relaxed, and moving with grace. Her instructions include modifications so each participant can tailor their experience to their own history and needs.
