Myofascial Release + Somatics VideoThis recording of a weekly class includes fascial release work benefiting the entire body. The first half of the class is direct myofascial release/massage with balls and a foam roller to release and hydrate the myofascial tissues. Somatics is a different way to affect those tissues and offers the extra benefit of re-training the brain to work optimally.
This video lesson begins with some detailed work with the hands, forearms, and feet. We then use the foam roller on the quadriceps and adductors. There is some detailed tennis ball work on the sartorius muscle (great for release hip or knee pain) and into the calves. The second half of the class moves to the quiet practice of somatics. Along with overall full body releases, we do some detailed scapular control work, release the neck and shoulders, and open the hip flexors. This class uses a soft Melt ball, an optional harder Melt ball, a tennis ball, and a foam roller (any density). If you don’t have the Melt balls, you can find similar ones on Amazon, search for 1.5" -2" diameter balls for therapeutic massage. |
